Jon Cummings
Director General
Eirene Ministry

In the fall of 2004, our family moved to Guadalajara to serve as missionaries within in various ministries in Santa Ana.  Through this work, I became connected to Eirene and now serve as its director.  Through the generosity of friends and churches in the United States, it is possible for me to serve in this capacity as a volunteer to the ministry.

I currently oversee the various ministries and work together with our board to set short and long term goals for expanding and improving the services we provide.  I also work to bring churches in from the United States and other countries to minister with us through construction projects and medical outreaches.

It is a true joy for me to have the opportunity to work with our team at Eirene and with those volunteers that come to build a ministry that will have lasting impact in lives and communities in the Guadalajara area.

Through past missionary experiences in Africa, God worked in my life to help me see my need for reliance on Him alone and the necessity of living a life, not for the praise of others, but to give God all of the glory.  I encourage you to join us in this wonderful mission as a Support Member today and think about how God may be calling you to become a missionary.

Camichines mission

In 2001 we moved with our four, then small children, to
México to be close to Chuy’s parents who live in the
community of Camichines.  We knew then that God had
other plans for us as missionaries here but did not know
what.

The Lord was calling us to work more directly with the local
people, and it became clear that we would start a mission to
work with children.  Four years ago the Kids Club began with
ten children.

In 2009 a children’s shelter for abused and abandoned children called Casa Hogar was established, and we continue to build our buildings and shelters for the children.  It has been a great blessing for us to use our home for God’s work and it is our desire for the Lord's work to continue and grow here in Camichines, please join us as a Support Member today and visit our mission in Mexico.

Director, Eirene Education Center

Santa Ana mission

I came to work as a national missionary with Eirene through Tere Meza. Together we attend the church that meets in Eirene’s building in Santa Ana.  She told me about the need for a director for the school and Jon Cummings later contacted me about my interest.

As the director, I work in supervising classes, training teachers, teaching various classes, supervising the discipline of the students, teaching parenting classes, recruiting volunteers and managing the curriculum for all grade levels in the school.  I work at Eirene because I love to serve the Lord as a national missionary through serving the community.  Please join us and together we can make a difference.

Ana Maria Garcia Corona
Office Assistant, Eirene Education Center
Santa Ana mission

I was invited to serve at Eirene's Education Center as the secretary.

My work  involves registering new students, monitoring the entrance and exit of children at the beginning and end of the day, and making sure the parents are cooperating with their school payments.  I also help with general office work.

I work here because I want to better provide for my children, who are also studying here.  I am learning a lot about working with children and how to serve as a secretary.  It would great if you could join us as a  Support Member.

Horte Segura

Teacher, Eirene Education Center
Santa Ana mission

I have been involved with the Eirene mission almost from the beginning, in different areas such as Kid’s Club, and helping out with Short-term mission trips.  In 2001 I felt God’s call to serve Him full-time as a national missionary and support the  Education Center ministry as a teacher.

The Lord has taught me many things throughout the ministry as a missionary in my own country, one I have recently learned is that His timing is not ours.  Whatever seems important and necessary for us may not be for God.  After six years, in October of 2007, my planned financial support was reached with my first Mexican supporter!

God has also granted me the grace to be a witness of His producing the fruit in someones life.  One of the children I taught at Kid’s Club become a responsible man, head of his own family and he asked me to be the Bible bearer at his wedding which - of course - was a very emotional ceremony.  Not only for what it represents for him, but also for what it stands for the many missionary volunteers and national missionary teachers that Kid’s Club has had through the years.

Santa Ana mission

I am an active member in Cristo Cambia la Vida Presbyterian church.   I came to Eirene through Horte Segura’s mom who invited me to come help as a teacher in Eirene Education Center.

Currently I am working in the Centro teaching the second and third levels of kindergarten.  I am so happy and fulfilled as a person and thankful to God because I am serving Him as a national missionary with all of my heart and others with love.  Matthew 6:33 , "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you."  Please join as a Support Member so that together we can change lives and transform my community.

Teacher, Eirene Education Center
Santa Ana mission

It was during a difficult period in my life where I hadn't worked for sometime.  I did not want to work in a factory because I wanted to keep studying.  I prayed to God asking Him to provide adequate work for my needs.

I went to talk with Flora Olvera and asked her for work.  She worked at Eirene Ministry.  They needed help but they could not pay very much, I decided to accept and started working at Eirene Education Center, the school ministry of Eirene.  I helped in the afternoons, and I studied in the mornings for three years.  I loved my work; I loved the kids and I wanted to be a teacher.

I needed to go to the university to be a teacher, but there weren't enough openings. I felt sad because if I didn't go to the university, I couldn't be a teacher.  Eirene had started the primary grades and needed teachers so I was given the opportunity to be a teacher for first grade.

I am now the second grade teacher, I have my own classroom, and I am very happy because I am serving God as a national missionary in my country.  Please join as a Support Member and together we can change lives and transform my community.

Teacher, Eirene Education Center
Santa Ana mission

Since I was a little girl,  I loved to play teacher.  My older sister was a teacher and, when I was not in school, she used to take me with her to her work.  I felt very important to be the sister of the teacher and I believe, since that time, I have always wanted to be a teacher .

I was working as a teacher in another school and our family became friends with Alex Ramirez, he told me of the need in Eirene for a teacher.  I indicated that I was interested in having an interview.  The whole week I was praying that it would be God’s will for me to work there.  The day finally came and I was told that I was accepted as the teacher.  I was jumping for joy and could not stop thanking God for His goodness to me!

I now serve as a national missionary in Eirene as teacher for three year olds, I am very happy.  Please join us with our mission at Santa Ana as a Support Member, together we can make a difference.

Magda Barreto
Dentist, Eirene Dental Clinic
Santa Ana mission

I first came to Eirene to serve the ministry as a national missionary in January of 2001 at the recommendation of the prior dentist.  Right away, they accepted me as a member of the family and I have always felt at home here.  My work in Santa Ana is to serve as a dentist working from Monday through Friday from 10am - 2pm.

Some of the more frequent things that I do are: extractions, cleanings, restorative surgeries on decaying teeth, fluoride applications, teeth bleaching and fillings. Through all of this, always trying to fill the areas that have the most need at a price that is affordable to those in the community we serve.  It would be a blessing if you would join us as a Support Member and offer your support in anyway you can.

I came to work at Eirene through Pati Hernandez, who was then serving as a member of the board.  I serve here as the homeopathic doctor, seeking to help meet the health needs of the people of Santa Ana.

My goal is to seek to spend time with patients and provide all of the necessary means, within my power, to help them heal from physical ailments.  I love my work and helping people in the community, please join us today as a Support Member so that together we can make a difference.

Danny Mallinder
Mission Volunteer
Eirene Ministry

In November of 2008 I came from my home country of New Zealand on a short-term mission trip to serve the Eirene Ministry and live in Santa Ana.

My work has involved strategic development, branding, producing video and photography, and creating stage one of a new website and database to allow better communication with support members.

I now continue to work with the mission remotely, and I visit as often as I can.  My job is to oversee the website, monthly e-newsletter, video broadcasts and manage online promotions and web 2.0 marketing.  This work will raise awareness, increase the financial support and grow the support member base internationally.

I feel blessed to part of what the Lord is doing through the mercy ministry of Eirene, and I have come to love the passionate ministry team and the friendly familes and their children in the communities of Santa Ana and Camichines.

My volunteer experience here has given me more direction and a stronger passion to use my skills in Christian mission work.  I would encourage you to visit and volunteer at Eirene Ministry in Mexico, even if it is short-term, but please at least join us today as a Support Member and become involved in changing lives for God without leaving your job or country.
